Sometimes our pain is too deep for even darkness to inhabit what is left of ourselves. The build-up of trapped emotions lingers on the doorstep of our lives waiting to surge out into the open, to infiltrate everyone else’s false happiness. It slithers and crawls into every corner of our world hoping to infect any last memories of better days and ravage any last remnants of the people we used to be. A flood of tears creates a valley in the blank space that used to be our life and that’s when we know who we used to be will never again be who we are.
